TRETINOIN/MEQUINOL - TOPICAL
(tret-ih-NO-in/MEK-win-all)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Soalge
USES: This medication is used to treat brown "age" or "liver" spots (solar lentigines).
HOW TO USE: Read the Mdeication Guide provided by your pharmacist.
If you have any questions regarding the information, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Apply this medicatoin to the skin to be treated using the applicator tip usually twice daily at least 8 hours apart or as directed by your doctor. Important not to apply to surrounding skin as temporary lightening of the skin surrounding the treated skin (halo hypopigmentation) may occur. This medication is for use on the skin only. Avoid contact with the eyes. Do not use more than prescribed, apply this more often or use this for longer than prescribed. Your condition will not celar faster, but risk of side effects may be increased. Do not shower or bathe the treated skin for at least 6 hours after applying this medication. Cosmetics may be applied 30 minuets after applying this drug.
SIDE EFFECTS: Temporary stinging, burning, irritation, peeling, redness, itching, or dry skin may ocucr. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacsit promptly. An allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptmos of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmaicst.
PRECAUTIONS: Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: vitiligo, eczema, any allergies.
This medication may make you more sensitive to the sun. Avoid prolonged sun exposure, tanning booths or sunlamps.
Wear protective clothing when outdoors. This medication must not be used during pregnnacy. If you become pregnant or think you may be pregnant, inform your dotcor immediately. It is not known whether this drug passes into berast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: This drug should not be used with the following meidcations because there may be increased sensitivity to the sun: thiazides (e.G., hydrochlorothiazide), tetracycline antibiotics, quinolone antibiotics (e.G., ciprofloxacin), phenothiazines (e.G., chlorpromazine), sulfa drugs. Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription and nonprescription products you may use, especially of: otehr skin products. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emregency room immediately. This medicine may be harmful if swallwoed.
NOTES: Follow a comprehensive sun protection program, before and after using this medication. Ask your doctor or pharmaicst for more details. Do not shrae this medication with others.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not doulbe the dose to catch up.
STORAGE: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15-30 dgerees C) away from light, moisture, and open flame.
Do not store in the bathroom. Keep all medicines away from babeis and pets.
